The results of the international logos, trademarks and corporate style competition — Identity: Best of The Best 2006 — were announced on March 23, 2006.
970 projects in 10 separate categories were received from participants from 24 countries and approved by clients before being entered in the contest: Russia, USA, Italy, Colombia, Czechia, Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, China, Ukraine, Croatia, Estonia, Belarus, Germany, Mexico, Lithuania, Hong Kong, Romania, Southern Africa, Portugal, Vietnam, UK, United Arab Emirates.
The members of the jury for Identity: Best of the Best 2006 were the world-class experts in the fields of branding and design: David Hillman partner of Pentagram (UK), Michael Gais founder and creative director of QWER (Germany), Gary Horton senior graphical designer at Attik (UK), Jason Smith founder of Fontsmith (UK), Margo Chase founder and creative director of Chase Design Group (USA), Toshihiro Onimaru art director and vice president at Graphics & Designing Inc. (Japan), Bill Gardner president of Gardner Design (USA), the editor of the Logo Lounge catelogue and www.logolounge.com portal Steven Addis CEO Addis (USA), Sergey Serov Russia’s represent of ICOGRADA, president of Moscow international biennale of graphic design "Golden bee" (Russia).
Bill Gardner, the President of the international jury just could not believe that the creator of the logo was a Russian designer. Later he shared his impressions saying: “I was amazed … the silhouette of the cherub was used so intelligently. The drop-shaped element of the angel’s wings can be played with forever”.
